"Bedroom Remodel"
Only four years in the making...
The "before" pictures are of poor quality. They are stills captured from analog video (I didn't have a digital camera when I started this room.) I started this room in November of 2001, and it was 80% finished in May 2003. The final 20% completion was the window trim and new floor covering. This last 20% was started April 15, 2006 and completed April 19, 2006.

The door as it looked before...

Remove old wallpaper, tape and seal the drywall joints and spray on some texture, slap on some new paint and trim, and a lot of elbow grease...

New doorknobs too!

Gaps between the ceiling and wall above the door...

Much better!

Dingy carpet...
Laminate flooring, with real baseboard.

Closet...
Easier to replace carpet with laminate than make the transition piece.

Cheap, flimsy curtains and rod...
Decorative rod and nicer curtains. (They're navy blue not black, and not "trained" to hang right, yet. Hey, they just went up today!)

Boring wall...
Still just a wall, but not so boring.

The other corner.

I'll start "training" those curtains to hang right, maybe next week...

I spent a lot of time making the sill apron, seems a shame to hide it behind the curtains.

Kind of bare, guess I'll have to do some decorating. Maybe next year...

Not bad, if I say so myself.

With thanks to all of those home improvement shows like "Ask This Old House" and "Hometime." But not those shows where some fruitcake drags neighbors around the neighborhood to glue twigs, sticks and bark on the walls, and in general just trashes everyone's homes and calls it "stylish."
